Osler‘s Etobicoke General Hospital and Brampton Civic Hospital are among the top 10% of hospitals in North America, measuring care delivered through its surgery program.
Osler’s hospitals have been recognized by the American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) for delivering safe, quality surgical care, ranking in the top 10% of 680 participating hospitals across North America.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the American College of Surgeons as a leader in our surgical program and extremely proud of Osler’s surgical team for their innovation and dedication to deliver these results,” said Dr. Naveed Mohammad, Vice President, Medical Affairs, Osler. “Osler’s surgical team performs more than 61,000 surgeries each year and continues to develop and emerge as a leader among North American health care providers.”
ACS NSQIP annually recognizes a select group of hospitals throughout North America for reducing clinical complications related to surgical procedures including (but not limited to): renal failure; cardiac incidents (cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction); respiratory (pneumonia); and urinary tract infections.
“With a multidisciplinary team of physicians and staff, we are proud to have developed an extensive and exhaustive process that guides patient safety and reduces risk to enable quality surgical care,” says Dr. Rardi van Heest, Corporate Chief, General Surgery, Osler. “This recognition is a tremendous achievement for the surgical team, and validation for its cohesive, coordinated approach as we continue working together to meet the growing health care needs of the community.”
