Bramptonians rock out and raise $746,000 to support health care in their community at Gala Benefit Concert

November 29, 2017 (BRAMPTON)— Music legend, Burton Cummings and band, and world-renowned master impersonator, André-Philippe Gagnon, performed to a packed house at the Rose Theatre in Brampton on November 25, as part of the 6th annual Gala Benefit Concert for William Osler Health System (Osler). The sold out Canadian-themed gala evening raised an incredible $746,000 for Osler’s three hospitals.

“What a moving and inspiring night,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “To see so many people come together to support local health care is truly extraordinary. From businesses and individuals, to local political leaders, and staff and volunteers—the theatre was filled with people who want to make a difference in the lives of others. We are grateful for the support.”

This year, Brampton-born, former Premier of Ontario, the Honourable William G. Davis, was celebrated for his enormous contributions to the community, the people of Ontario and this country. Mr. Davis was also the Honorary Co-Chair of Osler’s Peel Memorial Cabinet Campaign, helping to raise funds to build and equip the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.

In addition to the entertainment, Osler Foundation celebrated the good corporate citizenship of Downsview Kitchens. Mike D’Uva, President of Downsview Kitchens, became the fourth recipient of the Osler Foundation Corporate Philanthropy Award, which was presented by Darren Steedman, Vice-President, DG Group, the Gala’s lead sponsor.

“It’s an honour to support the Osler Foundation Gala Benefit Concert,” said Darren Steedman, Vice-President, DG Group. “DG Group believes in strengthening communities and supporting health care in Brampton and Etobicoke and our support of this gala is doing just that. We are so pleased to be a part of such an incredible event.”
