Osler shines bright at Central West LHIN Quality Awards

by Osler Staff | Feb 03, 2017

On Tuesday, at the Central West LHIN’s inaugural Quality Awards, the spotlight was on Osler as we were recognized for excellence in our work to deliver exemplary care to the patients we serve.

As testament to our commitment to innovative care delivered with compassion, Osler has once again been recognized as a quality organization that embraces innovative and effective approaches to providing safe, quality patient care.

  • 2017 Quality Award for work that has helped transform the Emergency Department at Etobicoke General into a top-performing ED in the Province. “Strategy to Decrease Time to Physician Initial Assessment and ED Length of Stay in the Etobicoke General Hospital Emergency Department" was lead by Dr. Sameer D’Souza and Helen Romas.

  • Honourable mention for work designed to reduce error-based transfers between long-term care and hospital. “PoET (Prevention of Error-Based Transfers) Project” lead by Dr. Paula Chidwick and Dr. Jill Oliver from Osler’s Ethics team aligns the culture of decision-making with the wishes, values and beliefs of patients ultimately resulting in improved quality of care.

The Central West Palliative Care Network (which includes Osler members like Dr. Martin Chasen), along with the Central West CCAC also won a 2017 Quality Award for Palliative Patient Early Identification.

We are proud of all of these achievements and that of all of the Osler award entrants as the care provided each and every day makes a difference in the lives of the patients we serve.  This work underscore our ongoing commitment to excellence along our quality journey.
