Golfers get ‘grass roots’ for Osler

This year’s annual Osler Open: Brampton Invitational surpassed expectations, raising a record-breaking $162,120!

With the new Peel Memorial now poised for ground-breaking and the ever-increasing volumes and complexity of patient visits at Brampton Civic, the tournament’s eighth annual run inspired strong support from Brampton’s corporate, political and philanthropic leadership.

Local celebrities, Sandra Post, and culinary expert, Ted Reader were on hand at the Brampton Golf Club to ensure that golfers came away with tips on how to up their golf game and BBQ skills.

In an incredibly unique case of gastronomy meeting gastroenterology, Osler’s Dr. Vinod Puri spoke to an attentive audience about the importance of colonoscopy for early detection of colon cancer.

Guests proved their commitment toward the cause by bidding heavily in an auction that raised $6,000 for specialized endoscopic instruments that Osler’s Dr. Vinod Puri demonstrated at the reception.

“The Brampton Invitational is made better every year by sponsors like CCV Insurance & Friends and Orlando Corporation,” says Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “Each year this tournament aims to raise awareness and support for one of a great many programs that patients rely on at Osler.”

It’s not too late to hit the greens for Osler. Next up, the Etobicoke Invitational will tempt supporters from Etobicoke and Vaughan onto the fairways of The Summit Golf Club. A full day on the course is $600, but enticing sponsorship and foursome packages make for value-added participation. Only 25 foursomes will play this year so act quickly by calling (416) 494-2120 ext. 39326 or register online.
