Dr. Varun Kapila, MD FRCSC RPVI

Chief of Vascular Surgery, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon

Dr. Varun Kapila is the Chief of Vascular Surgery at William Osler Health System. He graduated with his MD from the University of Ottawa and completed his General Surgical Residency and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Toronto. 

Dr. Kapila is widely published and has conducted a range of research in the area of vascular and cardiovascular medicine. He has received many awards for his academic and professional work including being awarded a gold medal for clerkship medicine and the silver medal for his academic performance at the University of Ottawa. He has taken on many leadership roles throughout his professional and academic career, including being the Secretary and Chair of the Provincial Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario. 

As Osler’s Chief of Vascular Surgery, Dr. Kapila is helping to create a comprehensive Vascular and Endovascular Program which introduced leading-edge surgical procedures to this region. His interests include endovascular aneurysm repair, peripheral arterial angioplasty and stenting, vascular medicine and risk reduction, and medical education.
