The Department of Family Medicine is seeking two locum family physicians to join its primary care obstetrics group (PCOG) to support the on-call group schedule. The successful candidate will participate as an equal member in the on-call schedule and will perform the newborn exams and C-section assist only while on call.
Our team is a collegial group of family physicians who are supported by a dedicated team of nurses, social workers, obstetricians, and paediatricians. PCOG provides low-risk obstetrical care, including prenatal, labour and delivery, and post-partum care. Newborn exam care averages six to 12 per 24 hour shift, C-section assist coverage is required with four booked per day in addition to any other emergency C-sections. Antenatal care is delivered through the maternity care clinic at Peel Memorial as part of the Women’s and Children’s clinics including early pregnancy clinic and mother and baby clinic.
Osler is an affiliated academic community teaching site for the McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine: Family Medicine program. It also provides clinical elective opportunities to Canadian undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The preferred candidate would be expected to participate in teaching during their shifts. The opportunity to seek an academic appointment with either the University of Toronto or McMaster University is optional.
