The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery is seeking a full-time associate acute care surgeon (ACS) to join our group at the Etobicoke General Hospital.
Joining a division of eight surgeons, the ACS surgeon will be on call daily from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with two to three overnight shifts per week and a minimum of one in every four weekends (Friday-Sunday). The ACS surgeon must be available during daytime hours to receive all new consults from the Emergency Department, ICU, inpatient wards and all intra-operative consultations. The ACS surgeon will also be available for daytime opportunities as a surgical assistant in the operating room and have 24/7 support from one of the other general surgeons. In addition, the ACS surgeon will be provided with one block per week in our out-patient clinic for patient follow-ups, which includes associated administrative support and overhead costs. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees and eligibility to receive the HOCC stipend for completed nights on-call.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a certificate of registration to practise from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
