Prenatal services |
If you are pregnant, we have clinics and classes to support you: Women's and children's clinicThis clinic offers prenatal services for pregnant women, as well as newborn care. If your doctor or midwife is affiliated with Brampton Civic or Etobicoke General, you do not need a referral for this clinic. However, you will need a referral for some clinic services (e.g. fetal non-stress test, RhoGAM injections, etc.). Please call us for more information: Brampton Civic Etobicoke General Early pregnancy care clinicThe early pregnancy clinic is designed for women who experience early pregnancy complications in the first and second trimesters (e.g. bleeding, threatened loss, missed abortion, etc.). The clinic assesses patients referred from Osler's Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centre or from their primary care physician's clinic. Vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) classesAfter a C-section, some women choose to give birth to their next baby vaginally. For most women, this is a safe option that benefits both mother and baby. Women's mental health clinicPregnancy and the postpartum period can be challenging for women who experience psychiatric disorders, including mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders. Women who plan to deliver their baby at Brampton Civic can attend this clinic for their prenatal appointments. All women are welcome, including those who are new to Canada, have mental health or socio-economic concerns, or do not have an obstetrician. You do not need a doctor's referral for this clinic. Neonatal intensive care nursery |
If your baby is premature or needs specialized care, we will transfer them to a nursery in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). A team of professionals including a paediatrician or neonatologist, registered nurse and others, as needed, will provide expert care for your baby. Primary care obstetrics group |
The primary care obstetrics group provides care during pregnancy, during labour and delivery, and after delivery. You do not need a doctor's referral to see a physician in this group. Learn more about our primary care obstetrics group and find a physician accepting patients for pregnancy care. |
Health care providers |
We support women delivering under an obstetrician, midwife or family physician. Midwife groups with privileges include West End Midwives, AMMA Midwives and the Midwives of Brampton and Halton Hills. Certain family physicians and obstetricians have privileges at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. |
