The Division of Neurology is seeking an associate neurologist to join the Neurology team at either Brampton Civic Hospital or Etobicoke General Hospital to provide neurological care of admitted patients. The position is a blended hospital and community practice and offers the possibility of working within a well-staffed, hospital-based electrodiagnostic clinic and growing stroke prevention clinic. The selected candidate will be expected to provide general neurology service at least one day per week at Osler and participate in the on-call schedule (approximately one week in four and one weekend per month). Neurologists who have the qualifications may also have opportunities for EMG at either Brampton Civic Hospital or Etobicoke General Hospital and to interpret a proportion of the hospital’s EEG studies. The neurologist will need to establish his/her own outpatient practice in the community. As Osler transitions into an academic health centre, there is anticipated growth for hospital-based outpatient general neurology clinics.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have certification in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Certification by Canadian Federation of Clinical Neurophysiologist is required to work in the electrodiagnostic clinics. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.

About the program

Osler offers one of the busiest EMG clinics in the GTA. Our clinics are staffed by technologists using up-to-date electrodiagnostic equipment. Dictations systems allow for real time-editing and instantaneous release of notes. EEG readings can be performed in hospital or at home. Our monthly neurology rounds and neuro-radiology case rounds provide excellent neurology CME and will remind candidates exactly why neurology is the most fascinating field of medicine. Osler services one of the most rapidly growing cities within the GTA. There is no shortage of work, and clinics will provide continued and stable income to support a long and very fruitful career.
