The Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Robotic Urology Specialist to join our esteemed urology team at Etobicoke General Hospital. This position is full-time at the associate staff level and is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in robotics, advanced laparoscopy, stone disease surgeries and a commitment to medical education. The Urologist will have access to operating room and outpatient cystoscopy time and participate equitably in the on-call schedule at Etobicoke General Hospital. The robotic urology specialist will be responsible for:
Clinical expertise:
- Performing complex robotic-assisted urological surgeries, including procedures for prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and benign urological conditions
- Utilizing advanced robotic technology to enhance surgical precision, minimize invasiveness and optimize patient outcomes
- Conducting advanced laparoscopic surgeries for conditions such as nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and adrenal surgery, demonstrating proficiency and innovation in minimally invasive techniques
- Managing stone disease surgeries, including percutaneous nephrolithotomy, ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy and advanced metabolic stone evaluation
Medical education:
- Mentoring and educating residents, fellows and medical students in the principles and techniques of robotic surgery, advanced laparoscopy and stone disease surgeries
Collaboration and leadership:
- Fostering a collaborative environment with colleagues, nurses and support staff to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care
- Providing leadership in the development and implementation of clinical pathways and best practices for robotic urology, laparoscopy and stone disease management
- Engaging in multidisciplinary team meetings to optimize patient care plans and outcomes for complex urological cases
- Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees and stipend commensurate with participation in the HOCC schedule.

Qualifications
- Accredited medical degree (or equivalent)
- Certification in Urology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC)
- License to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Advanced laparoscopy and robotic fellowship required
- Proven expertise in performing complex robotic and laparoscopic surgeries with a focus on oncology, benign urology and stone disease
- Strong commitment to medical education, including teaching, mentorship and curriculum development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Active involvement in professional societies and a track record of scholarly activity and research in urology
