Osler is part of the Mississauga Halton/Central West Regional Cancer Program, one of 14 Regional Cancer programs created by Cancer Care Ontario to ensure patients receive high quality services close to home.

Inpatient Services

Our inpatient cancer unit specializes in caring for patients with most cancer diagnoses, except acute leukemia and radiation therapy. We work with other health care partners to help patients access any services we don’t provide and we make sure their health care experience is as seamless as possible.

Outpatient Services

Osler’s Oncology Clinic teamhelp patients manage their cancer on an outpatient basis.

Services include:

  • Consultation/follow-up with an oncologist and haematologist as needed
  • CT and MRI diagnostic technologies
  • Chemotherapy given by certified oncology nurses
  • On-site oncology pharmacists
  • Social work support for newly diagnosed patients as well as patients and families requiring psychosocial support
  • Blood transfusions, intravenous therapy such as hydration, central venous and catheter management
  • Links to home care, community services and support (for example, transportation to clinic appointments, cancer support groups, etc.)
  • A dedicated satellite pharmacy ensures timely access to chemo therapy treatments

Early Detection of Lung Cancer

The program involves many of our hospital specialties, including radiology, respirology, pathology, oncology and a smoking cessation program.

Patients must be referred to the program through their family physician. People between the age of 55-74, who have a 30-pack-year history of smoking and no previous history of cancer are eligible to be enrolled in the program.
