The no-brainer (but important) initial fact

Washing your hands helps prevent the spread of illnesses and infections. Washing your hands frequently can help protect others and yourself from spreading illnesses such as the flu, diarrhea and/or more.

Sing Happy Birthday while you wash!

Did you know you should lather your hands with soap and water for at least 15-20 seconds when washing your hands? That’s about the same length of time it takes to sing Happy Birthday. Give it a try!

Damp or wet hands spread more germs than dry hands

Your hands should be dried completely after washing to prevent the spread of germs.

The more you wash your hands, the more you minimize your risks of contracting certain illnesses and infections
