Through innovative programs and partnerships, vulnerable populations are connected with timely supports that improve access, strengthen continuity of care and help address barriers to health and well-being.
Osler is committed to advancing excellence in seniors’ care through the internationally recognized Butterfly Approach™ for dementia care, implemented in the Acute Care for the Elderly Unit at Brampton Civic Hospital. This approach has earned national awards and reaccreditation for improving patient safety, well-being and the care experience for older adults living with dementia.
Osler continues to expand care closer to home through strategic partnerships, including its collaboration with the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network, enhancing access to world-class cancer services within the community. Other initiatives provide specialized, family-friendly support for children living with diabetes and their caregivers, for coordinated care and education throughout their journey.
Education, research and our future health care workforce
Osler is investing in the future of health care by creating innovative learning experiences that prepare the next generation of health professionals and support continuous growth and development for our health care teams.
Through academic practice partnerships with Humber Polytechnic, Toronto Metropolitan University and Humber/BD-Canada, Osler is expanding clinical education, enhancing high-quality patient care and providing hands-on learning experiences that integrate academic knowledge with real-world practice.
As the primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Medicine and a clinical education campus of McMaster University, Osler provides clinical training for undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners across its hospital sites, helping develop the next generation of physicians through community-based education.
Research and discovery
Osler Research Institute for Health Innovation (ORIHI) is advancing research, education and innovation to improve health outcomes. Building on more than a decade of health research, ORIHI is strengthening Osler’s ability to generate evidence, advance clinical practice and translate discoveries into better care for patients and families.
Osler is advancing research and innovation that strengthens care delivery and improves health outcomes. This includes emerging cancer therapies, advancements in biomarker testing, expanded access to new treatments for advanced lung cancer and simulation-based education and training are helping shape the future of health care right here in our community.
