The following items will help ensure a safe and comfortable stay:
- Your drugs and medications: please bring all your medications, in their original containers whenever possible. If you take a drug that is not normally kept in the hospital, we may ask you to use your own supply during your stay. If you cannot bring your medications, please bring a list of any prescription and non-prescription drugs you are taking. Include the name, strength, how much you take and when you take it.
- Pocket change: you may wish to bring a small amount of money for newspapers or small items from the hospital's gift shop. If you would like a bedside terminal which includes entertainment features including internet, there is a daily charge to access these applications. Please note that there is no place to secure large amounts of money at the hospital. The hospital is not responsible for your money or any valuables while you are a patient. You are welcome to bring your own mobile device, but you will be responsible for its safety.
- Clothing: we will supply a standard gown or pajama pants for you to wear. You may wish to bring your own sleepwear, a bathrobe and slippers. In addition, we encourage you to bring or ask to be brought in clothes to wear upon discharge.
- Assistive devices: if you wear glasses, have a hearing aid, specialized wheelchair, or use a walking aid such as a walker, cane or splint, please also bring these with you.
- Personal care items: personal care items (e.g. shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, comb, hairbrush, etc.) are not supplied by the hospital. Please bring your own, or a limited selection of personal care items can be purchased in our hospital gift shops.
- Items of comfort: you are encouraged to bring photos, small keepsakes, special blankets etc.
- Important documents: please bring your Power of Attorney for personal care or any advanced care directive document.
- Important considerations: take some time to think about what is important to you during your admission, what is important for us to know about you as a person and what are your goals for your stay with us.
