Ambulance Services
Hospitals are legally required to bill patients for ambulance use. Under the Health Insurance Act, each person transported by ambulance is responsible for paying the appropriate charges. This is true regardless of the distance travelled or number of patients in the ambulance.
The following rates are set by Ontario's Ministry of Health:

Patient who requests ambulance services for reasons that are not medically necessary |

Patient with a valid health card from another province or territory |

Patient who does not have a valid provincial or territorial health card or who is not a resident of Canada |
$240 |

If you are charged an ambulance fee and receive Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ontario Works or home care services, please let us know. Attach confirmation of your benefits (e.g. a benefits statement for the month you used ambulance services) to your invoice and mail to: William Osler Health System |

Coming home from hospital
Please plan your transportation home before you are discharged from hospital. We recommend a ride with family or friends. If this is not possible, we can help arrange transportation for a fee.
