Osler and Wellspring Chinguacousy renew collaboration to enhance supportive cancer care

William Osler Health System (Osler) and Wellspring Cancer Support Chinguacousy (Wellspring) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reaffirming their shared commitment to supportive care services for people receiving cancer treatment through Osler’s Oncology Program.

The renewed collaboration strengthens the connection between hospital care and community support by providing patients, caregivers and families access to free programs and services throughout their cancer journey. Wellspring offers Osler oncology patients a range of supports, including group and peer support, exercise and wellness programs, educational resources, and practical and emotional support to help people manage the challenges of cancer and maintain their well-being. These supports can help people connect with others who understand their experience, stay active, learn more about managing cancer and navigate the practical and emotional challenges that can come with a cancer diagnosis.

Through the renewed MOU, Osler and Wellspring continue their work to increase access to community-based cancer support services and create more opportunities for patients to learn about Wellspring programs throughout their care journey. The collaboration includes ongoing education for Osler’s oncology teams, sharing information about available supports with patients and families, and exploring new ways to connect patients and their families with services throughout cancer treatment and recovery.

Wellspring is a community-based cancer support organization serving individuals and families across Brampton, Peel Region and surrounding communities. All Wellspring programs are free and do not require a physician referral, complementing medical care for people living with cancer, as well as their caregivers and loved ones.
