Children's Outpatient Services

Osler provides a range of outpatient services for children. Each clinic below requires:

  • a referral from your child's doctor, and
  • a booked appointment

Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time. Your visit may take two or more hours to complete.

The general adolescent medicine clinic strives to improve adolescent health through the provision of inclusive, developmentally appropriate, compassionate and culturally safe care to youth and their families dealing with general and minor mental health (anxiety/depression), coping with chronic illness and supporting the transition of care to adult health care.

The antenatal clinic provides prenatal counselling to pregnant mothers and partners regarding complications of pregnancy and impact to the fetus. This would be carried out in conjunction with our perinatal and obstetrical teams to enable informed decision making regarding medical management of maternal and fetal care in pregnancy. The prenatal consults may be requested by perinatal, obstetrical and primary care obstetrical physicians. This service is provided to enhance multidisciplinary care for individuals needing complex medical care in pregnancy.

This clinic offers:

  • assessment and care for infants with higher blood bilirubin levels
  • blood testing to assess current blood levels

Etobicoke General - fourth level, paediatric outpatient clinic or Paediatric Unit

This clinic serves children and adolescents who need Botox treatments for specific medical conditions. In partnership with ErinoakKids, clinic services include patient and family education.

Children are sedated with monitoring, as required, for their procedures.

This clinic supports infants and families seeking help breastfeeding. It is staffed by nurses and lactation consultants.

Peel Memorial – second level, mother/baby clinic

This clinic assesses and supports children and adolescents with chest conditions. Our goals are to maximize the child's health and prevent their admission to hospital. Should hospitalization be required, we support children and their families in returning safely home as soon as possible.

Through this clinic, a team of health care professionals assesses and manages care for children and adolescents with diabetes (type 1 or 2).

Peel Memorial – second level, Diabetes Education Centre

This clinic is for children and adolescents with kidney conditions. It offers assessments and care management by a team of experts, as well as specialized kidney scans.

Brampton Civic - third level, paediatric outpatient clinic

This clinic supports children and adolescents with endocrine conditions. It offers additional assessment and care management by an expert team.

Etobicoke General - fourth level, paediatric outpatient clinic

This clinic is for children and adolescents with gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic conditions. A multidisciplinary team offers assessments and care management.

In partnership with ErinoakKids, this clinic serves at-risk infants who need additional screening and tests for hearing.

This clinic provides monitoring, education and community resources to help families support their infants' growth and development.

This clinic provides care to children and families living with neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, severe headaches, seizures and developmental delay. It also provides assessments to help guide a child's ongoing care needs and maximize their wellness.

Through this clinic, we assess and manage the care of children and adolescents with kidney and bladder conditions. We may do urine and/or blood tests to help with care planning. Our goal is to optimize a child's health and avoid admissions to hospital.

This clinic is for children and adolescents with slow physical growth, multiple food allergies and other conditions that require extra assessments and support.

Through this clinic, a team of health care providers assess and manage the care of infants and children with developmental and feeding challenges.

The paediatric cardiology clinic accepts referrals for all paediatric patients with possible cardiac disease. Priority is given to early discharge of patients from the inpatient wards or NICU with follow up visits with the paediatric cardiologists.

This clinic provides comprehensive care to children from five years of age to their 18th birthday. A team of experts strives to improve the child and family's health through education and activities (single person and group) that are geared towards having a healthier lifestyle.

The paediatric infectious disease clinic aims to provide investigation, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and prevention of infectious diseases including patients with tuberculosis, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, surgical wound infections, sexually transmitted infections, fungal infections and infections acquired during travel. Antenatal consults for TORCH, HIV and syphilis are also accepted.

This clinic provides consultation and ongoing patient management for patients with known or suspected rheumatic conditions. The goals of the clinic include inducing disease remission, preventing long-term sequelae, and monitoring of treatment efficacy.

This program offers education about a child/adolescent's upcoming surgery. It also helps children and families cope with hospitalization. Learn more about what to expect when your child is having day surgery.

In partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital, this clinic provides preventative care and education for families of infants who:

  • were born prematurely and/or
  • meet the criteria for RSV prophylactic vaccination

This clinic provides eye exams, assessments and care management for infants born with risk factors for retinopathy. We also provide follow-up care for infants with established disease.

In partnership with the Hospital for Sick Children, this clinic offers education to patients and families living with sickle cell disease. Our goal is to optimize your child's health and avoid admissions to hospital. This clinic also helps patients and their families transition from paediatric to adult care.

This urgent follow-up clinic is for children and adolescents who need medical follow-up after:

  • an Emergency Department visit
  • a family physician visit
  • an inpatient admission
